The Friends of Wayne County Parks is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the events and programs of Wayne County Parks.  The Friends group was formed in 1990 to work with the Wayne County Park system to assist with raising sponsorships and donations as well as hosting special events.

WE ARE FRIENDS OF WAYNE COUNTY PARKS

The Wayne County Parks system, which was founded in 1919, serves 43 communities in Wayne County, including Detroit. There are 5,600 acres of park space in Wayne County Parks, which includes parkways, trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, picnic shelters and natural areas.

A blizzard of 20,000 marshmallows will fill the sky as they tumble from the Easter Bunny’s helicopter.

Bring your blankets and chairs and get ready to tap your feet to the beat of cool jazz at Jazz on the River.

Enjoy a breathtaking run/walk through Midwest’s longest drive through holiday light display. 

Due to popular demand, Wayne County Parks is now offering bike riders a chance to bike through the lights before it opens to the public.

Help us kick off the start of the Wayne County Lightfest by attending a sneak preview with music, refreshments and a fireworks display.

Visit the Midwest’s longest drive-through holiday light display for an expanded five miles of colorful lights. The entrance is on Merriman Road between Ann Arbor Trail and Warren Avenue.
